Management Psychologist & Consultant
As a management psychologist, Jim is actively involved with the assessment and development of individuals at the executive and senior levels of organizations. His work involves the selection, development, and career growth of executives and the development of their senior teams. He assesses executives for the purposes of selection, coaching and development, promotion, and succession planning. He works with the executive team helping them align their strategies and improve their performance. When working with the senior team, he provides objective feedback and meaningful developmental experiences to all the members. He helps organizations assess their current culture and develop a more desired one. In addition to evaluating internal executives, Jim also evaluates outside senior level candidates to be sure they have the right capabilities and culture fit to be successful within a specific organization. Jim is a trusted consultant who helps organizations strengthen their executive talent base and their senior teams.
Since 1979, Jim has been a management psychologist and corporate consultant when he began his consulting career with an international firm of management psychologists based out of their Portland, Oregon office. He moved back to his home area of Baltimore, MD and began his own consulting practice in the Mid Atlantic region in 1985. He spent two years (1989-1990) internal with McCormick and Company, Inc., the spice leader and a Fortune 500 company, at their corporate headquarters and was in charge of succession planning and organization development. Jim then developed a consulting organization that created and sold executive services, organization development products, and training services on a national level (1991-2000). Manchester, Inc., a division of the Fortune 500 organization MPS Group (MODIS), purchased Jim's firm and he then became the head of their national consulting practice (2000-2003).
Now as President of Atsaides Associates, Inc. Jim continues to be a senior level management consultant and a trusted advisor to senior management. He brings a wealth of experience working with Fortune 1000 companies and their executives to organizations who are interested in improving the performance and potential of their own senior managers.
Jim's clients include Fortune 1000 organizations and large regional organizations. He has an especially strong background with the following industries: Health Care, Financial, Legal, Real Estate, Utilities, and Technology.
Professionally, Jim is a member of the American Psychological Association with member status in both the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the Division of Consulting Psychology. Jim is also a member of the Florida Psychological Association and the Maryland Psychological Association. Academically, Jim obtained his BA in Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (1971), his MS and CAS degrees in Counseling from Springfield College, Massachusetts (1973), and his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas (1978).
Jim has also been involved with higher education throughout his career. Along with his consulting career, Jim has been an adjunct professor for nine years at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where he taught Industrial / Organizational Psychology. He also enjoys being involved with business associations and is a respected speaker.
