PROFILE - JAMES P. ATSAIDES, PH.D.

As a management psychologist and president of Atsaides Associates, Inc., Jim is actively involved with the assessment and development of the executive level of organizations. His work involves the selection, development, and career growth of executives and the improved performance of their executive teams. He is actively involved with the assessment of executives for the purposes of selection, development, promotion, and succession planning. He works with the executive team helping them improve their performance through self awareness, alignment, and culture and vision activities. He provides objective feedback and meaningful development to all members of the executive team. In addition to evaluating internal executives, Jim evaluates outside senior level candidates to be sure they have the capabilities and culture fit to be successful within a specific organization. Jim helps organizations assess and change their culture as needed, and works with Boards of Directors to be most effective.

Jim has been a corporate consultant since 1979 when he began his consulting career with an international firm of management psychologists based out of their Portland, Oregon office. He moved back to his home area of Baltimore and began his own consulting practice in the Mid Atlantic in 1985. He spent two years (1989-1990) internal with McCormick and Company, Inc., the spice leader, at their corporate headquarters and was in charge of succession planning and organization development. Jim then developed a consulting organization that created and sold executive services and developmental products on a national level (1991-2000). Manchester, Inc. purchased Jim's firm and he then became the head of the consulting practice for the firm (2000-2003). Now as President of Atsaides Associates, Inc. and a senior level management consultant, Jim brings a wealth of experience working with Fortune 1000 companies and their executives to organizations who are interested in improving the performance and potential of their senior management.

Jim's clients include Fortune 1000 organizations and organizations in the Mid-Atlantic and national levels. He has an especially strong background with the following industries: Financial, Health Care, Utilities, Energy, Industrial, and Technology. Jim also works with non-profit associations and helps to provide them with a nice balance of business thinking.

Professionally, Jim is a management psychologist and a member of the American Psychological Association with member status in both the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the Division of Consulting Psychology. Jim is a member of the Maryland Psychological Association, and the Florida Psychological Association. He is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives. Academically, Jim obtained his BA in Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (1971), his MS and CAS degrees in Counseling from Springfield College, Massachusetts (1973), and his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Career Development from the University of Kansas (1978). Jim has also been involved with higher education throughout his career. Most recently, he has been an adjunct professor for nine years at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where he has taught Industrial / Organizational Psychology. He enjoys being involved with business associations and is a respected presenter and speaker.
